The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has published its 2021 dates for the Holiday Moratorium on street closures. No street closures, openings, or traffic obstructions will be allowed from Friday, November 19, 2021, at 4:00 PM, until Monday, January 3, 2022, at 9:30 AM, within the following area “Beginning at the easternmost point of North Avenue extending to Lake Michigan, west on North Avenue to Halsted Street; then south on Halsted Street to Roosevelt Road; then east on Roosevelt Road to its easternmost point extending to Lake Michigan.”
All existing street closures within this area will be canceled during this period. If you want to continue work or start any new work, specific approval from CDOT’s Permit Office will be needed, or else the permit will be denied. Any existing permits will need to be reapplied for during this period.
Additionally, any work performed from January 4, 2022, through April 1, 2022, is subject to certain criteria so that the streets can be plowed and snow removed. Specifically, all plates in the public right of way must be collected prior to the commencement of snow operations. If plates cannot be removed, or new plates must be installed, please immediately notify the snow operations unit by phone (312) 746-8630 or fax (312) 744-2808
If you have any questions regarding the moratorium or if you need any assistance with obtaining CDOT permits, please feel free to reach out to our office.
